As a SPA (Specialty-store retailer of Private-label Apparel) controlling the entire clothes-making process from design through manufacture and retail, this global apparel brand offers high-quality casual-wear at reasonable prices, and products that other companies can't. The company brand accounts for 6.5%* of the Japanese apparel market.
Global markets are now our key drivers of growth. The first International stores opened in the United Kingdom in 2001. By August 2017, the International sales constituted approximately 47% of total brand sales, with 1,089 stores (versus 831 stores in Japan). China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea and other parts of Asia are generating strong growth.
We launched a low-priced fashion brand in 2006, which enjoys increasing success in Japan. In fiscal 2017, the number of this second brand stores reached 372, and the sales topped ¥100 billion. Under the SPA business model, the company is able to develop unique, highly competitive products.
